This Thursday, Merco Colombia revealed the results of the 16th annual edition of its Merco Talento ranking, which recognizes organizations with outstanding human talent management in the country. For the 11th consecutive year, SURA was among the top ten companies in these aspects, ranking first in the insurance sector and sixth overall. These results reflect the impact of a comprehensive human talent approach that begins with recognizing individuals as the core of the organization—thus fostering their potential and enabling strong, trust-based relationships to create shared value.
Outstanding Human Talent Management Initiatives
Seguros SURA Colombia. In 2024, the Company implemented initiatives aimed at strengthening comprehensive talent development, focusing on leadership, learning, well-being, and work models. In line with its strategy, the Company placed special emphasis on promoting healthy habits and strengthening its training offerings to improve knowledge, skills, and competencies. Connection with the environment is key for attracting, developing, and retaining talent; in this regard, the Company implemented internships for students, talent incubators, and conversations with various stakeholders.
A standout initiative was the AI Academy, part of the SURA–Microsoft alliance to train employees in applied artificial intelligence. Regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Company designed a Disability Inclusion Plan in collaboration with Illunion.

Grupo SURA. Highlights from 2024 include: enhancing the learning offering and forging alliances with various institutions to build proprietary knowledge and strengthen capabilities; and investing USD 50,000 in the Grupo SURA Scholarship for postgraduate programs in key areas for the Company.
In terms of diversity, Grupo SURA updated its Diversity and Inclusion Policy and designed a strategy to identify and mitigate biases in decision-making in partnership with consulting firm Ethos BT. The company also made progress in reducing the pay gap across all levels of the organization. Best practices included flexibility and disconnection from work, harassment prevention, and promoting equity in caregiving responsibilities through specific maternity and paternity benefits—ranging from extended leave to financial assistance and phased returns.

SURA’s performance in this evaluation is complemented by the achievements of some companies within Grupo SURA’s financial investment portfolio: Bancolombia ranked first overall and led the financial sector, while Protección came in 43rd and led among pension and severance funds.
