Grupo Sura has been readmitted to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the seventh year running

​​Grupo SURA continues to be the only Latin American company from the Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets sector to be included in this Index. This year, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is made up of a total of 320 companies which have attained the highest standards in terms of sustainable business management on a global level. 3,500 companies from different sectors were invited to participate in this year`s assessment. The final ranking included 15 companies which​ belong to the same sector as Grupo SURA.   Medellín. Thursday, September 7, 2017 Grupo SURA made the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the seventh straight year, in recognition of its sustainable business practices. Furthermore, it was the only Latin American company from the Diversified Financial Servi​ces and Capital Markets sector to be admitted to this Index on a worldwide level. It is worth noting that in addition to the World Index, Grupo Sura is also included in the Emerging Markets Index.  "We have always upheld a firm commitment to becoming a sustainable, world-class organization and therefore we must be ready and willing to measure ourselves against the highest standards. That is precisely what this type of initiative allows us to do, that is to say gauge ourselves against best practices being upheld on a global level and in so doing identify strengths and opportunities so as to continue to improve upon our performance and allow us to remain relevant over the long term. We are therefore very pleased to announce that we have made the grade for the seventh year running with our truly sustainable business practices. Our goal now is to continue enhancing our practices on a day-to-day basis while creating added value for our stakeholders in support of the trust they have deposited in us, "stated David Bojanini, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo SURA.  Approximately 3,500 companies from all over the world were invited to participated in this year´s assessment, with 320 of these from a total of 24 sectors being finally selected. More specifically, from our own Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets sector only 15 companies were included on a worldwide level, with Grupo SURA being the only Latin American company to do so.  As widely known, Robeco Sam is the investment specialist in charge of assessing the participating companies. In the case of Grupo Sura this assessment included its subsidiaries, Suramericana, its insurance and trend/risk management arm as well as Sura Asset Management specializing in managing pension, savings and investment funds. The following is a breakdown of results obtained by the Organization in terms of the different dimensions: Economic Dimension: 77 points Environmental Dimension: 89 points Social Dimension: 74 points     The more salient highlights of the Organization`s overall performance included its anti-crime policies and initiatives, client relations, risk and opportunity management, crisis management, strategy and governance with regard to climate change, corporate citizenship and philanthropy as well as the handling of dilemmas and controversial issues.  The Company would also like to underscore the fact that four companies belonging to its investment portfolio, namely Grupo Bancolombia, Grupo Nutresa, Grupo Argos and Cementos Argos, were also included in this year`s World Index in recognition of their best business practices.    About Grupo SURA Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana, the parent company of the Sura Business Group is a Latin American company listed on the Colombian Stock Exchange and registered with the ADR- Level 1 program in the United States.
